OK, I've set up the store and have configured it to allow Guest Checkout on printed products from the Cart Viper Account module.

However, the system is not allowing this. A physical order is being forced to register with the site. I can confirm the cart is properly configured. If you are already logged in, no problems.

OK, me VERY bad. The account store view permissions were not set properly and didn't allow unauthenticated users to see the page; this obviously blocks guest checkout.

However, the bug with free shipping is not impacted by this. Please see below.

This brings me to another question. When a buyer is required to register with the site before purchasing, the cart redirects them to the registration page. We're using Dynamic Registration and the product brings the buyer to this page. However, after registering, they're not redirected back to the cart, which leaves them lost.

Please advise.

Another anomaly that has cropped up is the Checkout page no longer shows the Shipping address fields; is this related to the fix for the tax calculation issue you sent me?

OK, I set the DLL back to the original state; the shipping address fields are still not displaying.

OK, I see the problem with shipping.  IF you set shipping for a product to "Free," the shipping fields do not appear. This is a design issue, I think, What you WANT to happen is to see shipping fields on the checkout form; what you see now are fields that are designated as "Billing Address." This is confusing but I would think It should be easy to fix.

OK, I've changed my mind; this is a bug. Just because shipping is free doesn't mean you don't ship; the cart needs a fix in this regard.

Hi Rick

There are a couple issues you've raised in this post, so just let me try to answer each one. I've not got an admin account so its hard for me to know for 100% since I'm not able to see the config for the store or the products.

1. I've added some products to the cart as an anonymous user and its seems to work fine for me with regard the single page checkout. I'm able to access this page without registering.

2. Shipping address, when the cart only contains products which are marked as either Free to ship, Digital downloads, donation amount or only available for instore pickup then the shipping address is hidden. Can you check that you're products don't have these attributes aren't turned on.

If the product is marked as free then the shipping address is still shown during the checkout. I've just double checked this now in the dev environment.

3. I'm just looking at the dymanic registreation process now, the url on the page looks like this for me
http://www.softletter.com/Operations/...

Which should mean I'm going to get bounced back to the returnurl parameter after completing the process. I just clicked registered from the Cart page.
When you are experiencing this issue what steps are you taking to get to the registration page?

Regards

Mark

I just saw your reg come through and will set you up shortly.

+++ 1. I've added some products to the cart as an anonymous user and its seems to work fine for me with regard the single page checkout. I'm able to access this page without registering. +++

That was my fault; I realized the permissions on the store page weren't set to allow all users. I've already posted up that that was my mistake. Let me suggest you add my experience to a future manual to avoid being asked this in the future!

+++ 2. Shipping address, when the cart only contains products which are marked as either Free to ship, Digital downloads, donation amount or only available for instore pickup then the shipping address is hidden. Can you check that you're products don't have these attributes aren't turned on. +++

The problem is when the product is marked as free to SHIP. Then the cart shows only the Billing Address fields but that's wrong. Even if shipping is free, the product must ship and the shipping fields should appear. Test this out with The Product Marketing Handbook for Software; shipping is currently set to free. You'll note the Billing Address fields are all that's shown.

I need to understand what should happen when your Cart asks for a new visitor to register. They pick a downloadable product, provide their info, the cart says please register and then what should happen? Does your cart take them to the registration page of the site? If so, does it automatically redirect them back to the shopping cart after the registration? Or does your cart have a built in registration process that maps to the DNN core fields and is used in lieu of the site's registration system?

We use Dynamic Registration for registration instead of the built in DNN registration page. But before I can go further, I need to understand how you process a registration during the purchase process.

Hi Rick

This is good we are reducing the issues.

2, I've looked at this again and you are correct the logic is wrong. Just because the item is free shipping doesn't mean we should hide the shipping address. I'll code up a change tomorrow and get that over to you.

3. I see what you mean now with regard to the registration. That link on the success message is to a page we have created which collects the details for the user.
It maybe possible for us to inject a link to your dynamic registration page. The only issue is then getting the order to then update to have the newly created user Id.
I think the only thing to do is to try it out. What is the portalId of the site? I'll make you the correct resource file and we can see what happens.

Mark

Could you tell me the process that normally takes place during a checkout that requires the buyer register with the site??
