Wow, brain fart, the log would have been a good place to check next. Even after removing bitly it was still getting the same error after filling out the email form, but it did list nothing in the permission field in the host settings. I updated my web.config to set it to 'trust level="Full" ' and this fixed the permission level and the issue. Thanks so much for your prompt support!

I too am having the same issue.  I just bought viper cart recently and tried to follow the install procedure the best I can...  Nigel, can you help me out as well? I can also send you the admin signon if its easier.
