I am having a few issues with a new site that I believe are javascript related. The 'Add to Cart' doesn't do anything as well as the "Add to Comparison", and in the product details, 'Share with a friend' does nothing. I don't even get a popup even though I've enabled the modal popup for Ajax cart. I also don't see the expand option on the menu or the product count even when these are enabled.

I am using DNN version 06.02.04 (63) and Cart Viper version 1.6.0q. I have tried using the installed jquery (1.7.2) as well as hosted jquery (1.6.4) with the same results. I know jquery is being loaded because my skin contains a small javascript file that uses jquery and those functions are working. I don't see any errors in the Event Log.

Since the site is not live, the products page is not publicly available, but I can get you the link and a login if it will help resolve the issue.

Any Suggestions?

Hi,

Yes it sounds like you have a javascript error on your site that is stopping all the Ajax functions from working, can you email me the URL and an admin account details to: nigel@cartviper.com

Thanks
Nigel.

Thanks to the prompt and stellar support, these issues are resolved. There were 2 issues causing the Ajax functions to fail.

1) I needed to add a site alias including the 'www' part of the domain and set it as the primary alias.
2) I had inadvertently used the "dark knight banner rotator" container for the products page which resulted in getting a jQuery error on the page as this container outputs jQuery code that looks for an element I didn't have on the page to make a banner with.

Now everything is working as expected.

I'm actually still having an issue on the "Share with a friend" feature. When I fill out the form and click send, it doesn't do anything. I can see in Chrome's javascript console:
POST http://www.archersparadoxllc.com/Desk... 500 (Internal Server Error)

I am not sure how to debug any further though. If I put in my bitly username and API key, it fails as soon as I click 'Share with a friend' before even showing me the form.

What can I do to check what is happening?

Hi Eric,

It looks like a permission error with your DNN install rather than a bug within Cart viper. If you check the admin -> event viewer every time you click "share with friend" you are getting the below error when we try and shorten your URL with Bitly:

Message: System.Exception: Unhandled Error: ---> System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Net.WebPermission, System, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. at System.Security.CodeAccessSecurityEngine.Check(Object demand, StackCrawlMark& stackMark, Boolean isPermSet) at System.Security.CodeAccessPermission.Demand() at System.Net.HttpWebRequest..ctor(Uri uri, ServicePoint servicePoint) at System.Net.HttpRequestCreator.Create(Uri Uri) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(Uri requestUri, Boolean useUriBase) at System.Net.WebRequest.Create(String requestUriString) at Bitly.API.Bit(String username, String apiKey, String input, String type) at CartViper.Modules.Store.Ajax.Actions.ShortenUrl.ProcessAction(HttpRequest request) at CartViper.Modules.Store.WebControls.CvAjaxHandler.ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) at System.Web.HttpApplication.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() at System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) The action that failed was: Demand The type of the first permission that failed was: System.Net.WebPermission The Zone of the assembly that failed was: MyComputer --- End of inner exception stack trace ---\

If you have a look at host -> host settings what do you have listed on the permissions field ? If you do not have "WebPermission" can you ask your hosting provider to give your DNN site this permission and that should resolve the above issue. In the short term you could remove the Bitly settings and it should work as expected however without the short URL.

Thanks
Nigel.
