When the user is browsing the store we use the address that is defined for the store to calculate the tax for, so if the store is located in Connecticut tax will be displayed to the user regardless of where they are located.

Once the user has entered their billing address as New Hampshire during the checkout process they will not be charged tax.

So to be clear a user is only charged tax if they enter a billing address that indicates they should pay tax.

OK. You need to change this in a future release of the product and I would do it soon. In the US, shoppers, do NOT expect to see sales tax added to the price of products when they are on display; take a quick look at Amazon for an example. The only time sales tax is shown is when an order is placed and the system calculates if/how much the person must pay in sales tax. Showing tax makes think people I'm going to charge them even though I'm not. Or I can turn off taxes but that means I must eat the CT sales tax to avoid legal problems. Or I can add a notice at the top of the catalog stating the tax shown is for CT only, but it's still VERY off putting.

This is a serious design flaw in the system you need to address.

The easiest solution would be to remove the "[VATPRICE]" token from both the productdetail.htm and productlist.htm template files, that way we will not display the inc tax price when the user is browsing and only at the point of checkout if they qualify for tax will a tax total be displayed.

The above should meet your needs?

Thanks
Nigel.

Or, not to be too parochial about it, it's a design flaw for the US market; in Europe, I believe store displays show the "base" price and then the tax listed out separately. But not in the US (at least in most places) and I've never seen it done for online US stores.

I'll give that a try and thanks! (But that should be a config switch in the next release.)

Also strongly consider adding more management to the digital locker; a very sweet feature but it needs to be managed much more tightly. At minimum, add X times and date range restrictions on when someone can download in the future.

A PDF stamping feature would be very nice as well; I can put you in contact with a developer who might speed you along the way if you're interested.
