Good afternoon,

One of our clients is reporting rather odd behavior with Cart Viper and their iPads only.

When customers order while using their iPad but don't checkout the Cart is empty upon their return. Items are not remembered.

Also, when they place orders but don't checkout on other devices and then revisit the Cart doesn't show items previously placed into the cart. The items are there when visiting on on non-iPad devices.

The problem seems isolated to iPads at the moment although this is being reported by customers only so far.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,

Tom

Hi Tom

So you have reported two issues.

1. When a customer, creates a cart on an IPad but doesn't checkout. On returning to the site their cart is not persisted.

2. When a customer, creates a cart on an IPad but doesn't checkout. Then if why view the site on another device like a laptop then the cart is empty.

Issue 1

We use a session cookie to store the cart ID encrypted on the browser. It would sound like the cookie isn't get stored by Safari on the IPad and hence when you return to the site the cart is empty.

Please allow us to look into this further and come back to you.

Issue 2

Issue 2 is normal and correct behavior. We use a cookie that has a 30 day TTL on it to load any existing cart when the customer returns. So since the cookie will have been wrote to the IPad the laptop (in the example above) won't have the cookie.

Now some browsers like Chrome might allow you to sync the sites across all browsers in which case they would get the cookie and hence the cart on multiple devices.

Regards

Mark

Thank you for the answer.

I've informed our client about the cookie behavior and if you find out more about the Safari handling of the cookie for the iPad would you let me know?

Thank you again!

Tom

Hi Tom

On further investigation using an IPhone and Safari we are not seeing the issue with the cart not persisting between session.

What version of Cart Viper are you running?

Regards

Mark
