Hi CV,
I am using the Single Page Checkout option for my shopping cart. This is not a traditional shopping cart in the sense, we are using it to allow customers to pay for a company event, and each store product is intended for a particular audience type (ie. Member, Non-Member, Vendor, etc). One person may sign up for a company, that may attend with multiple numbers, and they would supply the information for all attendees.

I have to collect information (Name, Company Name, and Email) for all attendees on the checkout page. I plan to update the SinglePageCheckout.ascx page with a number of form fields to collect this data. I am collecting for a total of 10 attendees max, so I will have 10 rows of fields, each with name, company name, and email.  Looking over the coding on the SinglePageCheckout.ascx page, I have developed the following example (1 of 10). I would change the number in each field (id, resourcekey, ID) for the remaining 9.

NAME
<div style="width:150px;" runat="server" id="rowAttendeeName1">
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label27" resourcekey="lblAttendeeName1"></asp:Label><br />
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtAttendeeName1" />
</div>
EMAIL
<div style="width:150px;" runat="server" id="rowCompanyName1">
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label27" resourcekey="lblCompanyName1"></asp:Label><br />
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtCompanyName1" />
</div>
COMPANY NAME
<div style="width:200px;" runat="server" id="rowAttendeeEmail1">
<asp:Label runat="server" ID="Label47" resourcekey="lblAttendeeEmail1"></asp:Label><br />
<asp:TextBox runat="server" ID="txtAttendeeEmail1" />
</div>

I know I will have to update my orderCorfirmEmail.htm file. Based on reviewing this tile, I will have to add the tokens so this information will be included with the email. I assume, based on the sample above, they would be as follows:
 [ATTENDEENAME1]
[COMPANYNAME1]
[ATTENDEEEMAIL1]

Again, I would repeat this, simply changing the numbers to match the form fields.

My questions are: Is this a viable solution, and is there any other file I would need to update (other than SinglePageCheckout.ascx and orderCorfirmEmail.htm)?

If not a viable solution, any suggestions.

Thank you for your time, you guys have been great answering my other questions and I appreciate the time and effort.

Hi,

I am afraid that is not a viable solution as although modifying the .ascx control in that fashion would output a text for the user to enter the details in they would not be linked to anything in the code of Cart viper so it would not know to store these details against the order. In the same way Cart viper has no concept of what [COMPNAYNAME1] token would mean in the email template.

There are a couple of solutions:

1) Create a skin object so when a customer added an event to the cart before they could add the item to the cart they would be forced to enter the details of the additional attendees.

2) We could create a custom singlepage checkout that matched your layout.

If you would like to discuss this further please email me: nigel@cartviper.com

Thanks
Nigel.
