I am trying to transfer data from an old site to a clean new installation.

The old installation is DNN 7.0.5 with CartViper upgraded from 3.1.0 to 3.7.1.

I exported orders from the old installation and get an error trying to import them into the new installation that is DNN 8.0.4 and CartViper 3.7.1.

The error I get is "Import Fail!

Mandatory header firstname is missing from the import file."

What might be happening here?

Hi Joe,

I appreciate with the export and import being on the same page you would assume we would export the orders in the same format we would import in, however this is not the case. Rather than being a backup and restore which is what you're trying todo its an export orders for offline analysis and if you had some 3rd party system you could import your orders into Cart Viper to act as an order repository.

Being able to import the same file we export will be a useful feature so I will add this to our road map for a future release.

You can download a sample file of orders that will import into Cart Viper, keep in mind the order will be issued a new order ID and you have the option to email the customer an email for the order as well as create them a DNN account on your site by setting the appropriate column fields.

Regards

Thanks, Nigel!

As usual, a prompt and thorough reply.

I guess I missed the fact that there is a different format.  That's great, now!
