I'm running DNN 7.2.2 with Cart Viper 3.0.2 on my client's website. Our store was working fine until a couple of days ago but we don't know of any significant changes that would cause a problem. Currently, our store works fine until a customer (guest or logged in) clicks "Checkout" from the Cart page. When they do, they get a red box with the error message:

 

An error has occurred. An unexpected error has occurred!

 

In the Event Log, I see the following exception:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
   at CartViper.Modules.Store.WebControls.Checkout.LoadCurrentOrderInfo()
   at CartViper.Modules.Store.WebControls.Checkout.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e)
   at System.Web.Util.CalliEventHandlerDelegateProxy.Callback(Object sender, EventArgs e)
   at System.Web.UI.Control.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
   at CartViper.Modules.Store.Components.StoreControlBase.OnLoad(EventArgs e)
   --- End of inner exception stack trace ---
Any ideas on what the problem might be or how to resolve it?

I have tried:

1. Upgrading to DNN 7.4.2 but that did not help.
2. Upgrading to Cart Viper 3.5.9 and that didn't help (and had an install problem that I will write up separately).

I've emailed Host credentials to Nigel@CartViper.com to assist in the debugging.

Hi,

When I visited your site it was only when checking out anonymously that it was erroring for me, the reason for that was due to the fact the DNN account we use to checkout anonymously
had been deleted (ANONCARTVIPERUSERACCOUNT_0). I've recreated that account and it seems to be working fine now.

Thanks, Nigel! I'm guessing that my client deleted this account somewhere along the way due to its "suspicious" looking name. I will tell them that it is required. (A better error message in this case would make it clearer for all what the problem was.)
