I upgraded from 1.4 to 1.6 and the upgrade went very smooth. However I have noticed a drop in sales. I figured out my visitors are leaving the site after searching for products. I tested the search bar and I'm getting the wrong results. Its working but it appears as if is not working as well. For example I type in "green tag" I have a list of over a hundred green tags, but not one appear in my results instead I get string or wire. Is there something I need to do to correct this? Please let me know what you think it could be.

Thanks and have a great weekend,

Nigel took care of this a long time ago. I'm guessing it was some kind of bug in the upgrade.

Thanks,
Victor

Hi Victor,

The fix for the search sorting is now in the 1.6.1 version - the build number is the same so you will need to select "repair install" when you install it, like I said earlier can you install that and that should fix the dropdown list sorting issue and hopefully the search result issue you mentioned.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks
Nigel.

Mark,

The search bar is working great, however my Cart Viper Search Module site searches are not being tracked
 by Google Analytics. I tried adjusting my analytic settings but I cannon't seem to figure it out. Does the cart viper search module use url query strings? If so what are they? If not is it possible to track the search query? I really need to know what my visitors are searching for. Everything else from CV is working great with analytics.

Thanks,
Victor

Hi Victor

I've had a look and we do track the search term. Its recorded under the event 'catalog'.

Also did a test on your site and I can see the tracking code however it appears that on that page (it might be all the pages I've not checked) that a javascript issue is preventing Google Analytics from getting loaded.

http://www.earlepress.com/home/all-products/searchvalue/cash.aspx

This is the source code for the page, the item in bold is the issue. For whatever reasons there is a html tag in the js script block.

<script type="text/javascript"> var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-27339789-1']); _gaq.push(['_setDomainName', 'dev.earlepress.com']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefo<link rel='SHORTCUT ICON' href='/Portals/0/Images/favicon.ico' type='image/x-icon' /> <script type="text/javascript"> var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-27339789-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); </script>
I would remove the complete block then re-add it from the current snippet which Google Analytics shows you.

Regards

Mark
