I searched for an answer for this because it seems like something that would be built in. I'm looking for a multiplier basically as a variant. I have a textbox that asks the user for a number. That number could be from 1 to 1000 (no commas allowed). I want to be able to increase the price for this product that number entered times $0.90 ... is there already a way to do this that I'm not seeing?

Another thought here... I need a max price on this, too.

I coded this before with javascript in my other shopping cart so I know how to do it. Just not within the confines of Cart Viper adn DNN. Is there a way I could apply something custom to a field?

We don't support the ability to alter the price by multiplying it by the value that was entered into the variant textbox, variants can only alter the total price by a fixed amount. It would be possible todo however it would require some custom programming.

It is possible to validate that a user enters a value into the textbox variant between 1-1000 by using the regular expression feature. If you have a look at the below screen shot it shows how to set this up:

The regular expression to validate the input is between 1 - 1000 is:

^[1-9][0-9]?$|^1000$

I could do this maybe with javascript on lost focus of the field?

I already found the RegEx but then realized, we actually need to record whatever number they input. But calculate the max price dynamically. I think I'll try with some external js.

With JS you could capture the number that was entered into the variant textbox and multiply it by the base price of the product and display that to the user. However if they add it to the cart it will still use our internal logic to calculate the price, so they wont be charged the price you have displayed.
