When trying to place an order on the site, when you hit place order, a red box with an error appears stating " Could not load file or assembly 'Newtonsoft.Json, Version=6.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=30ad4fe6b2a6aeed' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)"

Any thoughts on how to fix this? I am using stripe as the payment gateway

Hi

I would guess you have another module which has installed a different version of NewtonSoft. Hence when we attempt to call the version we have coded against it blows up.

Could you have a look in your /bin folder and send over the version of Newtonsoft.Json.dll so we can see what version you are running?

I tried a fresh install of DNN and only installed the new skin, plus Cart Viper and I get the same error.

Hi Mark,

I figured out my own solution after seeing someone else talking about issues with the stripe payment provider int the newton json dll. Directly out of the box, Cart Viper does not work with the latest version of DNN from what I can tell. At least not when using stripe. 

I took the newton DLL that is in the bin folder of cart viper and created a new bin2 folder on the portal. I then added an assembly reference of 

<dependentAssembly>

                <assemblyIdentity name="Newtonsoft.Json" publicKeyToken="30ad4fe6b2a6aeed" />

                <codeBase version="5.0.0.0" href="bin\Newtonsoft.Json.dll" />

                <codeBase version="6.0.0.0" href="bin2\Newtonsoft.Json.dll" />

            </dependentAssembly>

and everything works. Might be helpful for you to add that piece of information to the documentation so that others who have issues with the newtonjson dll.

Hi,

That's correct DNN standard packaging NewtonSoft.Json.dll in newer versions of DNN leading that error when using Stripe as we had referenced a newer version of this .dll than DNN were using. We have corrected this in the latest version of Cart Viper so you won't get this conflict:
