Hi

Its not Cart Viper, Paypal is returning a IPN status of pending and we are just recording it. So communication wise anything works great.

This is the reason why Paypal Sand box marks the payment as pending.

I see what I did wrong-- I was using the email for the live business account instead of the sandbox business account in the paypal settings of cart viper.  Once I switched it so that cart viper was using sandbox-facilitator@mydomain.com and the purchase was done with sandbox-buyer@mydomain.com the IPN went through and everything worked.

So that wraps it up for me, got the whole thing up and running now with no bugs whatsoever.  Product gets A+, support gets A+ and now I'm buying a license.

True Story: after about three months of using Smith Cart, the FedEx shipping estimates mysteriously started giving astronomical estimates-- about five times higher than the real shipping cost.  When I contacted their support to report this, they tested it on their demo and verified that it was an actual bug.  Their solution?  They wanted me to call FedEx and ask them if anything had changed in their API and then get back to their developers with the answer.  Seriously?  Three months later the bug finally did get fixed, but then of course my free update period had expired and I'd have to pay full price for the cart again just to get that one bug fixed!  There were several other major bugs like that too, like discounts from coupon codes not carrying over to the PayPal checkout page.  No way was I going to invest more money in that disaster, so now that I have Cart Viper up and running I'm giving them the boot!
