I have CartViper all set up now except for payments at checkout.  We want users to be able to checkout and by check later, or use Google Checkout to pay with credit card.  Right now I have 2 buttons on the View Cart page:  Proceed To Checkout or Buy With Google.  This does not make sense to a user, why isn't Buy with Google shown at the end of the checkout where all the other gateways appear?

Hi Brian

Google Checkout works totally different to over payment gateways, Google handles the checkout process for the customer. Hence why you get the option so early on the cart page. There isn't anything you can do about it, that is just how Google Checkout works.

The logic behind the process Google has implemented is that the customer will have unified checkout process regardless of which stores they purchase from. The credit card details for example are never shared with the store directly.

Mark

Next question: If I want Google Checkout to handle everything as you explained, can I turn off the Proceed to Checkout button on the Cart Page?  This is confusing to customers.  It sends them down a dead-end.

Also: The Google Button does not go anywhere when clicked - it just stays on the cart page.  I have the proper account info filled into the setup.  Is there something else that needs to be setup to make this work?

Hi Brian

Just to help anyone else reading this thread, we've created an updated version of CV which fixes "proceed to checkout" button when only Google Checkout (Google Wallet) is selected.

Additionally we now log any error returned from Google Checkout in the Event Log since this is will contain the reason why the cart doesn't redirect to their checkout when clicking the button.

Regards

Mark
