I need my customer to choose from several variants that affect the price, but the variant price is dependent on the previous option chosen.  For example is they order a 10x14 print plus optional frame for $10, if they order a 16x20 print plus frame the frame now cost $25 (not $10).  This example shows two variants but I may have up to 4 variants.  Is it possible to do  table lookup for the pricing?  All of these products will have the same price.  An example of the table is at http://www.printthatimage.com/giclee-...   I prefer the customer choose the variants with dropdown boxes instead of clicking on a big table.  Any other suggestions are welcome.  The inventory/sku for variants you have would work if I could add a price there plus a valid flag (in case of an illogical combination.

Hi John

I understand what you are trying to do with the variant pricing. You are working on a multi-dimensional price matrix which is used to work out the variant pricing based on selected options.

As you will have seen we work on a single dimension, in that other variant selection do not change the price for other variants.

The only way I can think is that you'd need to make a product for each canvas/print size then add in the options. I'm correct in thinking that the size of the print is the determining factor in the variant pricing?
Would that work for you?

Mark

Thanks for your quick reply.  Actually almost every variant affects the price.  Would it be possible to call a pricing function and pass the variants chosen, than  could do an SQL lookup?  Or allow SQL to be entered for the price  SELECT Price FROM PriceTable WHERE Size= 3 AND Medium= 'Watercolor' AND Matte = 'White' AND Frame = 125

Hi John

I see you point, I think your idea for implement the feature on the variant inventory popup would be the best solution.

Then during the store front page we would need to create an AJAX function which calls into the back office to determine if the the current variant options selected are valid.
If they are valid the user can add the item to the cart otherwise we'll display some generic error message.
This would the implement the multi-dimension pricing grid you need for you store.

At the moment this functionality doesn't exist, however we could discuss implement this feature and fast tracking the development of this if you were to sponsor the feature. Please drop me an email to mark@cartviper.com and we can talk further about it.

Regards

Mark
