Hi, it would be good to have a setting that allows automatic selection of parent categories so products can be viewed as the user drills down

Hi,

I am not really sure I follow, however the Cart Viper catalog module and the Cart Viper menu module have settings where you can define the default categories to be used if non are selected. If that is not what you're looking todo could you provide more info on what you're wanting to achieve etc?

Regards

Hi Nigel,

If I CSV import a product "Large Green Umbrella" into Category "All Products>Accessories>Outdoor Accessories>Umbrellas" It ticks the box and shows my "Large Green Umbrella" in last child category "Umbrellas" only but does not tick or show in the parents "All Products or Accessories or Outdoor Accessories" by default.

To make this work I have to put every level in my csv file:-

"All Products;All Products>Accessories;All Products>Accessories>Outdoor Accessories;All Products>Accessories>Outdoor Accessories>Umbrellas"

A setting providing the option to auto select the parent levels automatically would be great time save when preparing to import thousands of products.

Hope this helps

Hi

If you are wanting to show products from sub categories when you are viewing the parent category this is something which is already supported.
If just needs this setting checked on the catalog module to enable that behavior.

Regards

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Now you have pointed me in the right direction I can see it in the manual. I will ask my site developers to take a look.

Many thanks
