From time to time we have customers enquiring about an event purchase they made.  More often than not, it would be very easy to troubleshoot/answer the question if we knew what the last 4 digits of the credit card used (or the check number if paying offline) to make the purchase was.

This information is not listed when we view the order details page within the cart admin section, nor is it listed on the order confirmation email. Therefore we have to spend considerable time cross referencing with our accounting software and/or our merchant account.

I would like to see this information listed in the order details page located under Payment Method, as well as a token for this information that we can use in the order confirmation emails i.e. [PAYMENTNUMBER].  I know that storing the last 4 digits of the credit card number does not violate PCI compliance standards, so this should be possible.

Hi Steve,

That's a feature we are unlikely to add to be honest as we have made the conscious decision to not store any part of the credit card number inside of Cart Viper. The majority of our payment gateways involve redirecting the user to the merchants website in order to enter their card number, so we would never even have access to this information even if we wished to store it.

When we do send a transaction to a payment gateway we should send at least the Cart Viper order ID, which would be available in the confirmation emails and the order list to allow you to cross reference and find your orders this way. Can you confirm which payment gateway you're using so I can confirm what information we are actually sending to them?

Regards
Nigel.
